For farm and rural work, Norsewear recommends the Work range, which includes a range of workboot or gumboot-height socks and cushioned work socks designed for long days on the land. We've got a variety of weights based on what season you're out and about in, and find that most people find a favourite and stick to it for years.

The Expedition Cold Weather sock is heavier-weight, designed for colder temperatures and providing maximum warmth and cushioning. The Expedition Temperate is lighter—suited to milder conditions and lower-altitude activities. Both are developed from the NZ Defence Force design brief. If you're tramping in winter or above the snowline, choose the Cold Weather, or even Extreme Cold Weather. For three-season use or summer hunting,  the Temperate is the better fit.

Yes - Norsewear's Alpine & Snow collection is designed specifically for skiing and snowboarding. These socks feature Merino wool for warmth and moisture management, with targeted cushioning for boot comfort during long days on the mountain. Being a brand started by a Norwegian ski jump champion, we feel we know a thing or two about what's needed when you're on the slopes.

For hiking and tramping, Norsewear recommends our technically designed socks from the dedicated Hiking Socks range—cushioned underfoot, close-fitting through the arch to reduce blister risk, and warm and breathable even when damp. There's a range of heights and weights depending on your conditions, including solid heavy weight gear for colder alpine trips.

Steel-cap boots need a sock with enough cushioning to prevent rubbing around the toe cap and heel, plus enough durability to withstand daily wear. All our socks are unisex, because we did the research and found that sex specific socks are quite a bit of nonsense. All that matters is getting the size and fit right! Our socks suit trades, farming, and outdoor use where a properly fitted, hard-wearing sock matters.

Norsewear manufactures its full range of socks, gloves and beanies, at its own factory in Central Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. The only two products currently made off shore are our Ruahine and Stockman jersey, but that's a work in progress. We've been manufacturing in NZ for 1963, and don't plan on ever changing that.
